Fabric care RAWA 100% cotton cambric printed fabric

Made To Feel Good. Made To Last.

At RAWA, we believe great clothing starts with great fabric.

Our collections are made with 100% cotton cambric, selected for its soft feel, comfortable wear and effortless everyday appeal. We pair this versatile fabric with expressive prints and thoughtful silhouettes to create ready-to-wear pieces that feel special without feeling precious.

A little fabric care goes a long way. Follow the guide below to help your RAWA pieces stay comfortable, vibrant and beautiful for longer.

Why Cotton Cambric?

Cotton cambric is a woven cotton fabric known for its smooth feel, comfortable handle and easy everyday wear.

We choose cotton cambric because it works beautifully with the way we want RAWA to be worn. It is comfortable against the skin, easy to style and well suited to printed ready-to-wear clothing.

For us, fabric is not simply about how a garment looks on the day you receive it. It is about how it feels when you wear it, how it moves with you and how it continues to look after regular use.

Every RAWA product page specifies its fabric composition so you know exactly what you are buying.

What 100% Cotton Means?

When we say 100% cotton, it means the fabric is made from cotton fibres rather than a polyester or synthetic blend.

Cotton is a natural fibre with a soft, breathable feel that makes it particularly comfortable for everyday clothing. It also has characteristics that are important to understand.

  • Cotton can naturally crease.
  • Cotton can react to heat.
  • Cotton may experience slight shrinkage, particularly during an initial wash or when exposed to excessive heat.
  • Cotton colors can gradually change with repeated washing, harsh detergents and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

None of these characteristics mean there is anything wrong with the fabric. They are part of caring properly for a natural cotton garment.

How RAWA Prints Its Fabrics?

Print is an important part of the RAWA identity.

Our designs begin as original artwork and are developed with the final garment in mind. Placement, scale, colour balance and repeat are considered before the design is prepared for fabric production.

We use printing processes suited to cotton fabrics so that our designs translate clearly onto the cambric surface. The printed fabric is then prepared for garment production and checked for overall print quality and consistency before cutting and stitching.

Because different designs can require different production approaches, the exact printing method may vary by collection or production requirement.

Our focus remains the same.

Clear detail. Beautiful colour. A print that feels distinctly RAWA.

How To Wash RAWA Cotton Cambric?

For most RAWA cotton cambric garments, we recommend the following fabric care routine:

  • Wash cold or at up to 30°C.
  • Use a gentle machine cycle or hand wash where appropriate.
  • Turn the garment inside out before washing.
  • Wash dark and bright colours separately, especially during the first few washes.
  • Use a mild detergent.
  • Do not use bleach or harsh stain-removing chemicals.
  • Do not twist, wring or aggressively squeeze the garment.
  • Avoid leaving the garment soaking for unnecessarily long periods.
  • Always follow the sewn-in fabric care label on your individual garment if it gives a different instruction.

Drying Your RAWA Garments

  • Air drying is the preferred method for cotton cambric.
  • After washing, gently reshape the garment and dry it in the shade.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly for darker or brightly coloured prints.
  • Avoid high heat whenever possible. Excessive heat can contribute to shrinkage, color fading and changes in the shape of the garment.
  • A tumble dryer should only be used on a low heat setting when the fabric care label permits it.

Ironing

  • Cotton naturally develops some creasing, so gentle ironing is part of caring for your RAWA pieces.
  • Turn the garment inside out before ironing.
  • Use a moderate or medium heat setting.
  • Steam can be useful for removing everyday creases.
  • Avoid placing a very hot iron directly onto printed areas.
  • For heavily printed or detailed areas, use a pressing cloth when necessary.
  • Do not leave the iron in one place for an extended period.

Understanding Cotton Shrinkage

Because cotton is a natural fiber, some dimensional change can occur during washing. Shrinkage is more likely when garments are exposed to excessive heat during washing or drying. The best way to minimize shrinkage is simple:

  • Wash cold or at up to 30°C.
  • Use a gentle cycle.
  • Avoid high heat drying.
  • Air dry in the shade whenever possible.
  • Follow the fabric care label.
Understanding Fabric Care and Cotton shrinkage

RAWA garments are produced with cotton’s natural characteristics in mind, but no natural cotton garment should be treated as completely immune to shrinkage. The amount of change can vary depending on the fabric, finishing, construction and care routine.

Keep Your Colours Looking Beautiful

Our prints are designed to bring color and character to everyday dressing. Proper fabric care helps preserve their appearance.

  • Wash coloured garments separately from whites and very light colours.
  • Turn printed garments inside out before washing.
  • Use a mild detergent.
  • Never use bleach on printed clothing.
  • Avoid drying for long periods in direct sunlight.
  • Avoid unnecessarily hot washing and drying.
  • Do not iron printed areas with excessive heat.

Deep or highly saturated colors may release a small amount of excess color during early washes. Washing similar colors together helps minimize the chance of color transfer.

A Note About Fabric Care Labels

  • This guide provides general care recommendations for RAWA’s cotton garments.
  • Your garment’s sewn-in fabric care label is always the final reference because individual designs may include different construction details, trims or finishing.
  • When the garment label gives a more specific instruction, follow the garment label.
